What is a responsible entity and trustee?

In Australia, all registered managed investment schemes (like the BrickX Platform) are required to be operated by a licensed responsible entity. The role of the responsible entity is to operate the scheme and perform the functions conferred on it, including to act in the best interests of members of the scheme.

Since we launched, Theta has been responsible entity of the BrickX Platform. See the PDS for further information. Subject to member approval, it is proposed that Theta will retire and BrickX Financial Services will be appointed as responsible entity of the BrickX Platform.

A trustee is responsible for holding trust assets on behalf of beneficiaries, and is required to act in the best interests of the beneficiaries of the trust.

Since we launched, Theta has been trustee of each BrickX Trust. See the PDS [link] for further information. Subject to Theta’s retirement as responsible entity, it is proposed that Theta will retire and BrickX Financial Services will be appointed as trustee of each BrickX Trust.
